Mike Jordan

Group Chief Executive

At 39, Mike’s track record displays a real flare for business development, sales development and innovative, rapid business growth.

Mike established his first company in 1993 in the field of Special / Hazardous Waste Management.  By 1997 the business had diversified into dry waste collection, transportation and metals recycling from an 8-acre site in the West Midlands (UK). The business grew rapidly through this period and quickly became an acquisition target for the UK majors. The company was successfully divested to ‘Onyx’ (at the time, the world’s largest environmental group) in late 1998.

Mike started another cold-start waste company immediately following the sale.  This company again grew rapidly and by 2001 was acknowledged as the UK’s leading tyre collection and recycling business. In parallel to the tyre recycling business, Mike also successfully re-acquired the Special Waste business back from Onyx in early 2001. By late 2001 the Group was again positioned as an acquisition target.

November 2001 saw the company acquired by a major competitor, with Mike agreeing to a one-year lock in with the acquiring party.  After just 5 months with the new group, Mike was asked to take on the role of Group Managing Director across the whole of their UK operations.

In the period 2002 to 2005, Mike managed the growth of this company to a turnover in excess of £20 Million, with the company gaining recognition as the UK’s 35th fastest growing business. Following this successful sale, the third in 8 years, Mike relocated to Spain to take a sabbatical.  After 18 months of relaxation, Mike resumed his career with the formation of Acura Investments in early 2007.
