Acura and Thermohouse - A powerful alliance
For the past two years, Acura has been looking for a building system that meets the exacting standards it has set for its new luxury villa construction business. That search has now ended!
Acura is pleased to announce that it has secured an exclusive long-term supply contract with the Irish ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) manufacturer, Thermohouse. The agreement gives Acura access to a ‘state of the art’ building system that far surpasses the existing construction methods typically used in Southern Spain.
ICF technology has already established itself as the fastest growing construction method in the USA and Canada, having gone from 3% of the house building market in 1993 to 14% by 2002*.
Extensive research identified that only ICF construction could meet all of Acura’s design requirements for its new villas:
- - Outstanding build quality
- - Efficient shell construction and fit-out, reducing build times and carbon footprint
- - Outstanding environmental performance, with significantly reduced cooling and heating energy inputs
Acura’s clients expect the very highest quality of villa construction but are also concerned about the environment. Using the Thermohouse ICF system, Acura will be able to achieve both of these objectives.
Having established that ICF was the way forward, Acura evaluated a number of systems around the world before selecting Thermohouse as the manufacturer of choice and ‘best of the best’.
Kevan Spencer said “We were extremely impressed with Thermohouse right from our first meeting in Ireland. The product design and quality is first class, and reflects their significant investment in a purpose built manufacturing plant, new machinery and substantial experience gained from their well established concrete & quarrying business. Thermohouse have put a lot of thought into the development of a truly integrated building system, backed up with extensive testing and certification of their products. Mike Cronin (CEO) heads up an excellent management team, and most importantly for Acura, we like working with the Thermohouse people!”
